 Apply to be mentored by a Bison and be part of the Bison Career Mentor Program!

The Office of Career Services in partnership with the Department of Alumni Relations and the Howard University Alumni Association has developed a program to increase the number of students who graduate with practical work experience and increase the pipeline to full-time employment, through building professional relationships with alumni. 

Student Mentees

When you join the Bison Career Mentor Program, you are paired with an Alumni Career Mentor within your field of study or desired career industry. You will gain access to alumni and can begin building lasting personal and professional relationships for your network to assist in your career growth. Your Alumni Career Mentor will provide advice, guidance and expert knowledge to assist with your career growth and development through mentorship to include areas such as industry-specific professionalism, career readiness skills, work culture and more.

Juniors and Seniors: will be paired for the fall semester

Freshmen and Sophomore: will be paired for the spring semester

Program Mission

Engage, Equip and Empower!

  • Alumni  and students will  establish the new standard for the student-alumni relationship to  create the network that will continue the Howard legacy
  • Students are matched with alumni from their field of study or desired career industry to receive one -on- one career coaching and support for 1 semester 
  • Students will attend career readiness skill workshops about professionalism, negotiating,  communication, networking and more.


1. 2nd-semester Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior
2. Minimum 2.5 GPA


1. Submit application and statement of purpose
2. 1-semester commitment
3. Attend 3 Career Readiness events
