Career Fairs

The Office of Career Services hosts an all major, all classifications internships and job fair for the entire university every fall and spring semester. We also host a Graduate/Professional schools fair in the fall semester. There are also school specific fairs that are held each academic year. Career Fair Registration is via Handshake. All fairs are for Howard University students and alumni ONLY unless otherwise stated.

Information Sessions

Many of the employers who recruit on campus will host pre-recruitment presentations, which give students an opportunity to acquaint themselves with ­companies and available career opportunities prior to the interview dates. A question-and-answer session usually follows each presentation. These sessions can be arranged for panel format or casual lounge seating.


Info Sessions Requirements

We are now accepting  accepting  event requests for spring 2019.

On-Campus Event Season: January 28-April 12

All employer information session requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks before the event date,  through https://howard.joinhandshake.com/login. Information sessions are only held on Wednesday and Thursday between 3:00 pm and  5:00 pm . Any request outside of the allotted times must be submitted to Ms. Ami Kamara, aminata.kamara@howard.edu

All event requests will be reviewed within 2-3 business days and updated in Handshake. A confirmation email will be sent to the event registrant 1 week prior to the event date.

Requests for catering or additional audiovisual equipment must be submitted to Sodexo or Fortex

The Office of Career Services will post information sessions on Handshake for students to RSVP and advertise these sessions via Handshake’s Newsletter, our office calendar as well as through our interdepartmental Career Service Network.

Employers must notify the Office of Career Services through written correspondence of a request for cancellation at least  5 business days prior to the event. Failure to notify the office adequately will result in potential fees and restriction of services offered.

 


Table / Booth Requests

A table/booth is an excellent opportunity for employers to promote hiring and internship opportunities as well as solicit students to attend an information session or garner interest to sign up for on-campus interviews.

A six-foot table and two chairs will be reserved and set up for your designated area via the Office of Career Services. To be fair to other employers' needs and campus agencies needing promotional space, an employer cannot recruit using the booth promotion service more than twice in one semester. While staffing a booth, employers are limited to promote their recruiting opportunities at their table only. No solicitation of products or services outside of a company's jobs available is allowed. Giveaways and small displays to attract students are welcome. Please note that consumable items distrubted on -campus can not conflict with licensed contacts on campus. for more information please refer to Office of the General Counsel.

Reservation for an information table can be made in 4 hour time blocks. We recommend 11:00am - 2:00pm. Information table requests can only be made for Wednesday and Thursday only.
Please submit an email t  auxiliary@howard.edu to request an information table. Once your request has been approved and you receive a confirmation email, submit a request in Handshake. Select the "Events" tab then select "Other" and include "Information Table" in the title.   *Only employers who have received approval and confirmation from Auxiliary Services will be approved in Handshake.*

The Office of Career Services will promote the booth to students and Career Services Network contacts. All requests must go through https://howard.joinhandshake.com/login . Employers are not allowed to post flyers around campus unless previously authorized. Promotional materials for recruiting should be forwarded to our office after speaking with an OCS staff member.

Employers wishing to secure an information table should review university policy regarding short-term vending. 


Bison on the Yard

When the weather permits, getting students engaged with your organization “on-the-yard” for recruiting on campus outside is a great recruiting tool. All requests must be submitted through https://howard.joinhandshake.com/login. 

Catering must go through Howard University's approved food vendors, please contact catering directly at Sodexo once your request has been approved.

Bison Networking Mixer

The Office of Career Services Bison Networking Mixers bring together alumni and working professionals in a variety of fields for career discussion and professional networking. Professionals share information about career paths, industry trends, specific companies and professional development.

Networking Events are not an opportunity to interview for jobs; instead they provide an opportunity to make contacts in students’ field of choice and explore career options they may not have otherwise considered. These events are limited to Fridays from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm.

Events can include a combination of a panel discussion, roundtable networking, and open mingling. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. For detailed information please refer to the university policy.
